The crew and their tasks
There are three crew members on board the Rega helicopter. They each have special tasks. Only by working together can they rescue patients quickly and safely.
Ready for action around the clock
The Rega crews are on standby 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Pilot
The pilot flies the helicopter to the accident site and also communicates over the radio with the Operations Center.
After landing, the pilot helps the other crew members to provide the patient with medical care.

Paramedic
The paramedic sits next to the pilot during the flight and assists with communicating over the radio. They also help the pilot to find a suitable landing site.
At the scene of the incident, the paramedic helps the emergency doctor to provide medical care to the patient.

Emergency doctor
The emergency doctor looks after the injured or sick person at the incident scene. For example, they give them medication to ease their pain.
If the rescue helicopter is unable to land next to the casualty, the emergency doctor is lowered on the end of the rescue hoist to the injured person on the ground.
