Mostly they’re winter sports accidents, road accidents or accidents in the mountains. But Rega’s rescue helicopters are also needed to help seriously ill people, as well as to transfer patients from one hospital to another.  

How Rega helps abroad

Rega can also help in the case of injuries and illnesses abroad. It brings patients back home to Switzerland with the Rega ambulance jet. If the illness or injury is not very serious, Rega’s medical consultants can also provide help or advice over the phone or arrange for a member of Rega’s medical staff to accompany the patient home on board a normal passenger aircraft.
